Artist of the Week...Or So
James Blunt - www.jamesblunt.com
"...another British depressive whose weepy jingles make rainy days pass with less resistance” He is the British answer to Dashboard, but unlike DC Mr. Blunt has got mad skills. His last album was produced by the guy who worked with Beck, and it shows. It’s great music for the ‘post-midterms vegetative state’
Matisyahu - www.hasidicreggae.com
“…Matisyahu is the world's first Hasidic Jewish reggae star” Do I need to say more? As many of you know I have a soft spot for the strange and that’s what his music is. It’s Hip hop/Klezmer/Traditional Hebraic/Dance Hall/Reggae/Jazz with a bit of Beat boxing thrown in for good measure. I know it sounds like it would be awful, but it’s actually amazing.‘Refuge’ is my favorite song so far – ‘ You have been a refuge for me, a tower of strength in the face of my enemy’
People In Planes
A Great Brit rock band that I was at Louis a few weeks ago. So catchy and just as tight live as on their CD. They definitely are worth of being called an ‘Art Rock’ band, and have an amazing keys player.
