First from Gambia...
Hey family and friends.
Here I am in Africa… I’ve been here what, two and a half weeks, and have finally gotten used to the heat. The recording process has been slow due to the power cutting on and off all of the time, and having to record in an African house. We had our fist single “Messege of Love” launched on the Banjul radio station. We had 15 strait minutes of air time and some interviewing as well. We are scheduled to play on Gambian National TV this Saturday as well. We met with two really big Gambian Bands today, and had a really amazing jam session. We played some of ours, and some of theirs. SO AMAZING!! I love African Reggae. The drummer paid me a huge complement by saying that he was surprised by my Djembe playing, and that I had very good feel. Does it get any better than spending an afternoon playing Reggae with African musicians? I think not.
We worked at sisters of Charity this week, which is a center that looks after malnourished and very sick kids. It was very sad, but I realized so much more that all we can do is to trust God. I couldn’t do much for the kids but hold them and pray. It was very humbling.
Next week we are heading to Soma to run a Foot Ball camp with YWAM and a Pro- Brazilian Soccer coach. Since I am soccer challenged (but am getting better) I well be doing more music stuff, and VBS.
Gambia is in the U-17 Africa cup this Sunday!!! GO GAMBIA!!! We went to a game the other day, and there were 50, 000 people crammed into a 30, 000 seating stadium. They went WILD! I am so glad that they won.
I should go, I have too many stories, but African internet is ridiculously slow.
See you soon!
