End of Summer Sorrow

It’s time to face the facts; summer is over and the onslaught of post secondary has begun. September has brought its usual charms. Classes and Essays, cold nights and rainy days, no more leisurely days of summer and definitely no more lounging in the sun.

So to celebrate the melancholy weather and to morn the loss of the fabled free time allow me to introduce my first annual ‘End of Summer Sorrow’ CD:

Jesse – Richard Gibbs
Falling By The Wayside – People in Planes
Haley – Needtobreathe
Gone – The Beta Band
The Drinks We Drank Last Night – Azure Ray
Insomnia – Wintersleep
Grey – Ani Difranco
Recall – Brave Stain Saturn
Over Our Heads – Zero 7
Today – Joshua Radin
Smile – David Grey
I Can’t Seem To Make You Mine – The Clientele
Bring On the Ending – Matt Pond PA
Angels & Saints - Never Ending White Lights

Dear Jamie… Sincerely Me – Helloandgoodbye
Dondante – My Morning Jacket
Hallelujah – Jeff Buckley

I also put a few of my favorite songs of the summer on a second disc so as I drive to school I can not only torture my brother with my obscure musical taste, but I can also remember the better times. Time when music was my biggest priority of the day instead of academic pursuits… I went through a bit of an indie / alternative phase this summer, and this is the cream of the crop as far as oddity in recordings go:

Mercury – Brave Saint Saturn
Hot Summer Nights (Won’t Last) – The Aquabats
I Don’t Want To Fall In Love – She Wants Revenge
Stawberryfire – Apples in Stereo
Cavalier Eternal – Against Me!
No Breaks – The Bravery
